merseyside red and the black of eyeliner
yesterday morning's victory over merseyside blue has just galvanised my love for Liverpool. truly a match that would go down in the history books as one of the most memorable ones. not only was it significant, it was also exciting.
i had never seen so many players picking up injuries in one match. the number of yellow cards was also staggering. but, it's Everton, what else would you expect. Baros was rather unlucky. he could've scored a hat-trick and for all his hard work and running, all he got was a red card. sad really.
well, after the match, Vic and Ken went on with the xbox party. i'm reading
Kenneth's blog now and it seems that they played until 5am. my god. but still, not enough to match the intense gaming therapy of the post Carling Cup Final xbox party, which lasted till 8am, for me at least. i KO-ed first last night, cause i was really tired. we all woke up at lunch time and gamed some more. then, i had to painfully and reluctantly request that they leave as it was time for Goth Day.
Goth Day, was cool.
after Vic and Ken left, JT came over to help goth me up. a few skilled strokes and some smudging with an eyeliner, and presto, a goth/punkgoth look for me. coolness. i was in my GC inspired all black outfit. then, we went to watch Hostage which i have a few things to say about. but first, the funny thing about being goth-ed up.
the first steps into the outside world as a goth were rather funny. stares were abundant. and i soon found out the fun side of being goth-ed up in spite of it supposedly being a sad, dead thing. for one thing, eyeliner makes your eyes stand out [yes, i just realised that. or is it SUPPOSED to do that?]. another thing is, a dude wearing it attracts attention.
i was in the train with JT on the way to Lido. then, this kid who just entered the train was staring at me from the corner of his eye. i kept looking back at him, glaring at him with my new 'death stare'. the more i looked at him, the more he retreated into the center of the car. it was really funny. that's the funny thing about wearing eyeliner. people keep staring at you but since your eyes have been made to stand out, you have a more 'powerful' stare when you look back at them. once you stare back, they pretend that they weren't staring at you, which was really funny. wearing it also makes you look intimidating and less approachable. i guess people aren't really comfortable talking to people who look like the walking dead.
like when JT and i were about to enter the cinema, the ticket guy [who was an old fart] took one look at me and did not dare to ask if i was the legal age [since Hostage is rated NC-16]. instead, he attacked JT, who was not allowed to go in due to some lame ass reason. the staff at the counter rectified it and we were finally allowed to watch it.
for those out there wanting to watch Hostage, don't go in the cinema with high expectations. the story is rather draggy but the acting is rather good. the main antagonist, a creepy, disturbed youth called Marshall or Mars, played by someone who looks like Giovanni Ribisi [or maybe it IS him], is truly freaky. Bruce Willis does well as a cop, haunted by his past. he sure does a lot of weeping and crying in the movie. either he's a real sensative guy, or he's as gay as sunshine and a big wuss. overall, i think it's alright. i don't know why it's rated NC-16 though. the only violence is in the slow motion gun fights which were so slow, you got to see how the blood splatters and the graphic depictions of the life story of the bullets entering and exiting the heads of its victims. if that's violent, you haven't seen Saving Private Ryan yet. THAT show was truly violent and coincidentally also had Giovanni Ribisi in it.
oh well, Goth Day was fun and i wouldn't mind doing it again. it's sort of like a Sociology experiment too. you get to toy with peoples' MINDS. how cool is that?
